Emerging Dance Teacher Workshop- Open to the Public
Not all people are equipped to be dance teachers. But how do you even find that out? Where is there a place to be vulnerable in the practice of teaching and receive constructive feedback in a low-risk environment? Since 2022, we have been providing that space and are happy to continue to offer it with funding from 4-culture! In this 2 part training series, you will learn tangible teaching tools, practice those skills during class time and receive feedback from mentors and peers. We will also cover DEI, community building and business strategy. Students who take this course will be eligible to sub for Drop Zone, assist an instructor and/or teaching a beginner level class.
If you are a BIPOC student, you are eligible to be a part of our teaching cohort September 2025-March 2026 and receive this training for free.

Emerging Dance Teacher Program: Cohort 2025/26
This program is for emerging BIPOC dance teachers who are at the beginning or mid stages of their careers. The commitment is from September 2025- March 2026. You will start with trainings in goal setting, teaching methods, DEI, community building and business strategy. You will then be placed to assist a Drop Zone teacher with class and/or a beginner or intermediate training team from October-November, then eventually teach your own class and training team. The program will end with you setting a piece on your students and showcasing your own work at our theatre showcase, Hydrate. Additionally, you will be offered a monthly 1:1 check-in from your pick of mentors, a media shoot, and editing support with resume, social media and bio. Apply by Sept 15th!
